We are overjoyed to announce that the Powell 365 Groups web part has won first place in the Microsoft Ignite 2016 SharePoint Dev Kitchen hackathon!
A few months ago, Powell Software was invited to participate in a private SharePoint Dev Kitchen in Seattle, Washington. The new SharePoint framework was set to be released at the Microsoft Ignite event and SharePoint execs invited the best of the best to participate in a hackathon of SPFX. The Powell 365 team worked hard to create web parts within the new framework that would help everyday employees. Their hard work and creativity paid off.
AWESOME FRAMEWORK
Cyril De Queral, Powell Software Cofounder and Chairman, said he was “excited to be part of this adventure and to be one of the first to use this awesome framework”. Being able to participate in the hackathon was a tremendous opportunity for Powell 365. Our developers challenged themselves to develop two different components for the new SharePoint framework.
GROUPS
The first component, entitled “Groups”, is now award-winning, as it won first place in the hackathon. The Groups component was presented live at Microsoft Ignite by Dan Kogan, Microsoft’s Principal Group Program Manager. The SharePoint component connects Office Groups and SharePoint Online in order to seamlessly access to your Office Groups from within a SharePoint page. The completely interactive and responsive web part includes access to the full list of Groups you are a member of, viewing and creation of your favorites along with a search filter. A side panel provides a quick review of recent activity, as well as shortcuts to all Group features including the Group Outlook messages, events in the Outlook agenda, files from SharePoint and even commentary from OneNote.
MY MAIL
The second component, entitled “My Mail”, provides live and direct access to your emails in SharePoint. The innovative web part provides seamless access to your latest e-mails in real time. You can write, read, and/or delete an email without ever opening Outlook.
